In 2021, Crossroads Animal Shelter initiated many changes and improvements. We have taken a multi-faceted approach to accomplishing one goal: enhancing the services and care we provide to animals, their families, and our community. Rescuing animals and finding them homes is just one component of what we do. Fully realizing our goal means that we can support our community by providing continued care for the health and well-being of animals.

These improvements are only possible with your support.

Here is a recap of what we have accomplished so far!

SURGICAL SUITE

One of our biggest projects is working toward completing the surgical suite. The advantages of this space are two-fold. First, it provides on-site veterinary and surgical services to the animals in the shelter. Not only is this cost-effective and efficient, but more importantly, it is healthier and less stressful for the animals in our care. Second, it allows us to provide access to high-quality, low-cost veterinary care for animals and their families in the community. Soon, we will be able to offer spay/neuter and vaccination services to the public. This will be a necessary step in transforming our impact so that we can continue to rescue animals and find them homes while working within our community to ensure access to care so that animals have the opportunity to thrive.

TRANSPORT VAN

We have recently purchased a transport van. This allows us to transport animals to the shelter. We work in close collaboration with two organizations: Safe Hands and Leech Lake Legacy. On average, Crossroads transports animals from those organizations to our facility about eight times a month. Having our own transport van allows us to safely transport several animals per trip. Saving animals is a group effort and it takes teamwork to extend our reach to help as many animals as possible.

CAT COLONY ROOM

We have remodeled a space in our facility to create a cat colony room. This is a great place for cats to be able to enjoy extra space, lounge in the sunlight, and interact with other cats. It is a less stressful environment for cats while they are waiting to be adopted.

All of these changes are exciting, but they are also expensive. Money that was raised during the Fall Open House will be used to help cover the cost of these expenses.

Please look for upcoming announcements about additional fundraisers we have planned for the remainder of this year! Your contributions help us meet our fundraising goals!

Thank you to everyone who supports Crossroads Animal Shelter! It is your support that makes what we do possible.
