Once completed, volunteer applicants will receive an email invitation to the next steps of the volunteering process and more details about our shelter policies.

It may take several weeks to process and complete an application, and we thank you for your patience.
We have limited staff and prioritize animal care first, but we need and value our volunteers.

The minimum time investment at Crossroads to be considered for volunteering is:
Two(2), 2-hour shifts per month. We can also accommodate a single 4-hour shift per month as well.

Available Opportunities

In-Shelter Volunteers

Dog Walkers

Our dog walking volunteers help ensure our dogs receive exercise, individual attention, and socialization.
Our dogs go out in all kinds of weather and this is part of volunteering for this service.
Our staff and our animals will depend on you attending your scheduled shifts if you choose dog walking.
You must be able to handle all sizes of dogs and some that will require a lot of patience and basic manners (sit, leash walking skills). The training, care, and positive interaction you provide will help each dog become a better candidate for adoption into a forever home. *

Cat Enrichment

Our cat enrichment volunteers help socialize adult cats and kittens.
There also may be times when we are prepping them to join our colony room (room with multiple cats in one area). You must be able to pick up, hold and move adult felines safely from their condo setting to a visitation room. Reasonably assess a feline's body language. *
Shelter Maintenance

General repairs, groundskeeping, maintaining kennels, replacing lightbulbs, painting, and misc. projects.

*All volunteers are expected to perform general shelter duties on each shift.

General Shelter Duties

Animal kitchen duties, laundry, general cleaning, unfolding newspapers, shredding paper, sweeping floors, spot cleaning kennels.
