2017 Board of Directors

Karla Heeter

Karla Heeter

Karla is one of the founding members of Crossroads Animal Shelter and served as the organizations first President. She was instrumental in raising funds to build the shelter and provided day to day oversite when the shelter was constructed. Karla is a strong advocate for homeless, abandoned and neglected animals and believes we all have a responsibility for the humane care and treatment of animals. She and her husband Ron live near Maple Lake with three dogs, one cat and four horses.

“Coming back to serve on the board, having been away from day to day operations at the shelter for nearly 12 years, is a great honor.”

Jamie West

Jamie moved back to the Buffalo, her hometown, in 2013 and is a Property Manager in the Twin Cities. She started volunteering at CAS with her husband and joined the board of directors in January 2016. Jamie and Drew have a daughter, Lily, and two cats, Twix and Rolo. When time allows Jamie likes to bake and help craft pet pads for the shelter!

Lisa Cooper

I am Lisa Cooper, married to Jim for 22 years, we have 2 boys Robert 26 and Dakotah 19. We have lived in Buffalo for 20 years and lived in Hanover for 7 years prior. The reason I joined the board… Crossroads has a very special place in our family. We adopted our little dog 3 years ago and my youngest son completed his Eagle Project with building a dog agility course. My boys have graduated from high school so now I have time to help my community and when I was invited to join the board I accepted. I hope to help Crossroads find forever homes for animals in need. I believe that rescue animals are special and deserve love I am ready to roll up my sleeves and help with whatever needs to be completed. I have experience with fundraising, administrative items and I have experience with other nonprofit boards. I believe my experience can help the board.

My name is Laureen Bodin and I have been fortunate to live, work and raise a family in Buffalo most of my life. My husband Donny and I have three adult daughters along with their husbands/fellows, and five grandchildren. My career has been as Assistant Administrator for the City of Buffalo for 36 years. Buffalo has grown significantly over my tenure at the City and I have enjoyed being involved in residential and commercial development projects along with administering and carrying out policy under the direction of the City Council and City Administrator. I am also the Executive Director of the Housing & Redevelopment Authority. Animals have always been a passion of mine, along with the love of nature and America’s natural resources. Minnesota offers beautiful changing seasons and some of the finest sunsets. I currently serve on the Buffalo Hospital Allina Health Board of Trustees and the Crossroads Animal Shelter Board. My hobbies include long walks, gardening, fishing, cooking, travel and recreation of all kinds. I am honored and delighted to be serving on the CAS Board as its number one mission is caring for cats and dogs.
